Sayre is a mechanical engineering student at the University of Iowa and an undergraduate research assistant in the EFRE Laboratory. He is interested in fluid mechanics and the processes of energy transfer between wind and waves.

He participated in the following research projects:

• Wake Effects on Surface Atmosphere Interactions and Aquatic Ecosystems.

He is currently NOAA Hollings Scholar and intern at Saildrone, Inc.
